Here is the issue you face or will face eventually.

How "do you" go about learning a piece
of classical guitar music ?

Do you have a "solid approach" that
works every time or even have an idea
of what that would be ?

( Some teachers have the student play their
piece backwards, measure by measure.  That
doesn't work. )

Do you feel somewhat lacking in a "real"
direction to take after putting a piece
of music on the music stand ?

Maybe even a little clueless ?

I mean, what do you "do" first ?

Probably what most do....

The traditional approach that many teachers teach.

Here it is in a nutshell.

You start sight reading it ( probably pretty poorly )
in first position ( for as long as possible ) and then,
when the music travels into the upper frets,
you sigh ....and give up.  "Take two aspirin and
I'll see you next week".

But if you're brave, you sight read it over and
over and over ...."hoping" that it will all magically
"sink in".

And, of course, it never really does.

Or ...you begin the long, frustrating process of
figuring out where those pesky notes
above the 7th fret are "really" located and
trying to hunt and peck your way up in the 9th fret
region hoping to land on the right note that is also
located on three other string-fret locations.

If you have been playing for years now, can you
read a piece of music, without looking at your guitar,
and instantly visualize the 3 or 4 locations for
each pitch written on the page ?

And visualize the multiple string - fret fingering
combinations available to choose from ?

And what about choosing from the various
locations to play the same notes on the
fret board ?  Which ones and why ?

How long have you been sight reading the
first 15 measures of 4 or 5 of your favorite pieces
every day only to give up and stop until the next day ?

And what about "Doing" something to make
the music interesting to the listener ( and
yourself ) after the usual arduous task of note
learning ?  This one is the most lacking
skill for players at any level.

Some spend years at this process and still
struggle with playing pieces mistake free
despite finally learning the note locations.

There is a reason for these unfortunate
but common tar pits.

It can feel overwhelming, even to the advanced
player.

I can show you "exactly" how to turn even the
simplest piece of music into a towering
example of interpretive mastery...

Using My Four Simple Critical Steps and my
expanded use of Tab(lature).

The new lesson series that I am introducing
today is designed to effectively guide
you through the seemingly endless
string-fret choices available to the guitarist
and how to make interpretive choices
to bring out the musical elements successfully.

And cut the total learning curve time by teaching
you how to choose the best fret and string combinations.

Not the easiest....but the "Best", so that you
and your listeners can be totally captivated
by your playing.

The classical guitar offers a wide range of
profound insights into the world of, what I
call, sonic poetry.

It's what draws us all to the instrument.

When one thinks about all the various instruments
available to the musician, there are very few
that have the intimate dynamic and tonal range
that the CG has.

So....an instrument that one can play to "express" one's
feelings and moods is what "really" draws us all in,
not so much one that reproduces so many notes
on the written page in perfect time like some
player piano.

I am offering my process, for the first time, that does just that
using what I call Sakari's Poetics, a procedure of uncovering
the inner soul of a composition, exploring what is
the beginning, middle and end of a composition's
message and choosing the best string, fret and interpretive
tools to express not only the composer's ideas but
yours as well.

In other words, how to take a bunch of notes on the page
and turn them into a profound insight into the soul of the
composer and therefore yourself.

Carving that universal connection between us all, through the
portal of the classical guitar, with what we call "music".

There are Four critical steps in this process and they must
be followed, In Order, every time you start work on
a new piece of music.  If you don't, you Will miss out on
some the most exciting musical opportunities that you
can imagine.

If you don't break down these four elements into their
respective groups, you will simply become overloaded
and frustrated.

It's a logical process of analysis that takes all the
mystery out of choosing between the endless
combinations of strings and frets with multiple left and
right hand fingering choices.

I also explore the tonal variations of the melody line, the
inner voice line and the bass lines demonstrating
the Beginner's, Intermediate's and Advanced player's
choices.

Then I sift and distill them all down to a final choice and
teach how to assign fingerings to them and why.

so mistakes are eliminated.
